Explore Philadelphia’s Christmas Village with Penn Lens!

It’s that awesome time of the year again when all you can see are shiny lights and all you can smell is gingerbread… Christmas!

Join Penn Lens in our very first Christmas outing to Christmas Village! There will be:

– International and local merchants selling unique trinkets, apparel, artwork, jewelry, home goods, and more
– Hot and fresh European food, sweets, and drinks
– A HUGE (and bedazzled) Christmas tree and wish wall
– Live music, surprise performances, chocolate/cheese/wine tastings, and more!

This will be a fun opportunity to just hang out, get in the holiday spirit, and take tons of gorgeous pictures in this beautiful place.

We’ll be meeting at Tampons at 6pm, so bring some SEPTA tokens and then we’ll be off for some Christmas fun!

Pinhole Photography Class with SPEC

On November 16 from 12-4pm, SPEC will be hosting a Pinhole Photography Class. This workshop is a unique opportunity to learn about pinhole photography. Students will learn how to make a pinhole camera from scratch, shoot with their cameras, and develop their negatives. No prior experience is necessary and lunch will be provided. This workshop will be taught by Gush Gallery’s Stephanie Slate. Slate received her B.F.A. in photography from Pratt Institute and is currently working towards her M.F.A. at U-Arts. Penn Art Club and SPEC Art Collective Present: Tour of Itinerant Belongings

On Friday, November 14, join Penn Art Club and SPEC Art Collective on their tour of a new exhibition on display at Charles Addams Fine Arts Hall and The Slought Foundation. The exhibition examines the work of eight artists from around the world who engage with non-traditional ideas of homeland and belonging. It will be an amazing opportunity t listen to the curators of the show itself!

The group will be meeting outside The Slought Foundation at 2:50pm.

40 Years in Photography: From Analog to Digital with Professor Tony Ward

Come join Penn Lens for our November GBM featuring Professor Tony Ward, a current professor in the Fine Arts department at Penn teaching courses ranging from Photography and Fashion to Digital Photography. He will be sharing his personal photographic journey, as well as answering any questions related to photo opportunities, techniques, or anything students are curious about.

His fine art prints have been collected and exhibited around the world. He has had his works published in prominent publications such as GQ and Cosmopolitan. Come mingle with the members of Penn Lens as well as Professor Ward!

Penn Lens October GBM

Come join Penn Lens for our October GBM! We will be discussing monthly competitions, our upcoming First Friday trip, and we will even be featuring a DSLR workshop with board member Jason Lau!

September 5 – October 2: TRUCE Exhibition at Charles Addams Gallery

The 2015 Master of Fine Arts (MFA) candidates present in their fall exhibition TRUCE a collective showing of a diverse body of responses to the myriad of discourses and conflicts in the preceding year. Whether it be a ceasefire, armistice, peace, or a far-reaching compromise, each individual manifests their understandings of “truce” through sculpture, video, painting, drawing, photography, and new media in this remarkable exhibit.
